We are proud to introduce our Nepalese partner, Plantec Coffee Estate, a specialty coffee plantation located approximately 75 kilometers north of Kathmandu. Nestled in a spectacular landscape dominated by the Himalayan peaks, the plantation stretches along the Trisuli River, fed by snowmelt from the Ganesh Himal range. These pure waters are used for coffee processing, bringing freshness and precision to each batch. Grown at an altitude of approximately 700 meters, the Caturra coffee plants, originating from non-GMO seeds and planted since 1995, thrive over nearly 75 hectares. Annual production reaches about 100 tons of beans, all cultivated according to USDA-NOP and EC89/2008 certified organic methods, with annual audits. The coffees are shade-grown, contributing to reforestation and soil conservation, while providing a safe habitat for many migratory and non-migratory bird species. This high environmental impact project actively participates in the global Carbon Neutral initiative and has allowed the return of endangered animal species to a formerly degraded area. The process is carried out with the utmost care: wet processing, sun drying, then manual cleaning and sorting, guaranteeing consistent quality. Beyond the excellence of the coffee, the plantation plays a major social role by supporting local employment and promoting the training and empowerment of women in the region. We have chosen a medium roast to reveal the full aromatic richness of this high-altitude coffee. In the cup, it is distinguished by a gourmet chocolate profile, enhanced by notes of vanilla, hazelnut, and candied chestnut. A balanced and elegant coffee, reflecting a unique terroir and remarkable sustainable commitment.
