This coffee is grown in Jamaica's Blue Mountains, one of the world's most renowned coffee-growing regions. Rising to an altitude of 2,000 metres, these mountains, located between the parishes of Saint Mary, Portland, Saint Thomas and Saint Andrew, benefit from fertile volcanic soil, rainfall of between 850 and 1,050 mm per year, and an average annual temperature of 26°C. The steep topography and shade-growing favour a slow maturation of the cherries, guaranteeing aromatic complexity. The quality of Blue Mountain coffee is strictly controlled by the Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA), which supervises each lot before export. The cherries are hand-picked, then the beans are washed using "aqua pulpers" to remove the mucilage, before natural drying and meticulous hand sorting. The coffee is then packaged in 15 kg barrels, ensuring optimal preservation. Mainly made from Typica (95%) and Geisha High Bred (5%) varieties, this washed Arabica Grade 1 reveals a very smooth profile in the cup, a harmonious and creamy body, and a delicate acidity. We have chosen a medium roast to highlight its gourmet roundness, with notes of cashew nuts, cane sugar and biscuit, supported by a lovely length on the palate.
