Sweet and light coffee with a refined nose with pleasant aromas of dark berries and a pleasant acidity for a harmonious body. It leaves a subtly fruity and floral finish on the palate, with vanilla notes.
Mythical, extremely rare and exclusive, this coffee owes its name - Laurina Bourbon Pointu - to the shape of its fruits, more pointed, and its leaves, more elongated than usual and resembling bay leaves, and also to the fact that Réunion Island was formerly called Bourbon Island. This plant is the result of a mutation of the Arabian coffee tree imported by the French to the island of Réunion at the beginning of the 18th century. Its production declined until it stopped completely in 1942. It was only in 1999 that a passionate Japanese team pushed the island's authorities to restart its production. Based on a few plans found in private gardens, certain farmers resumed the cultivation of this extraordinary coffee, almost 0.4% decaffeinated. Growing on the side of a volcano from an altitude of 800 m, in the shadow of the clouds, the Bourbon Pointu selected by Corica is harvested by hand by the Sliti family. This exceptional coffee was selected from a coffee grower who produces exclusively in agroforestry, prohibiting the use of chemicals.
