This mythical, extremely rare and exclusive coffee owes it's name -Laurina Bourbon Pointu- to the form of it's berries and leaves. The latter are more elongated than normal and resemble those of a laurel. This plant stems from a mutation of a coffee plant imported by the French on the isle of La Réunion at the start of the 18th century. It's cultivation kept declining until coming to a full stop in 1942. It was only in 1999 when a passionate team of Japanese urged the isle's authorities to resume the cultivation. Based on some plans recovered from private gardens, some farmers restarted the production of this incomparable, almost decaffeinated (0,4%) coffee. The plant grows on the flanks of volcanoes between 600 and 1000 meters of altitude in the shadows of the clouds. The Bourbon Pointu selected by Corica is handpicked by the family Sliti.
