Corica works directly with producers of the Hawaii Kona coffee, the Aloha Farms Co-op. Their mission, promoting sustainable coffee practices and providing opportunities for their Hawaiian families and farms.
The Kona Arabica coffee is grown in the South Kona region rainforest thrives on the slopes of Mt. Hualalai. All the coffee cherries are handpicked, because of the uneven and steep terrain. They are then sent for a processing where the majority of coffee cherries are depulped.
Hawaii is the only state in the United States with the right weather conditions that can grow coffee, combined with its limited supply and requirements by law to pay living wages and taxes, these contribute to the high demand and cost of 100% Kona coffee.
Kona coffee has won many awards in cupping competitions across the world.
The Kona beans can expect taste hints of brown sugar, milk chocolate, honey and a hint of a bright fruit flavour. It's, generally, described as bright, crisp and clean. The aftertaste is very pleasant and lingering, with hints of nuts and citrus. The aroma is a unique, sweet mix of aromas that's reminiscent of caramel, butter, cocoa, or fruit.
